The volume of domestic and global air traffic has been constantly on the rise. Ten years ago, the airport in Mumbai, served a mere six million passengers annually. Today, there is a need for the airport infrastructure to be able to support more than five times that number. In this context, the authorities of Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport approached the internationally renowned firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill LLP to design a new terminal to feed the current demand.
