Studio Osmosis: Workspace with a twist!

Can an office space encourage you to work while you rest?

Imagine a workspace that breaks the usual monotonous layout of cubicles that are filled with desks and cabins that suffocates and dulls your mind.

Studio Osmosis has broken the usual ideologies of an office design to envision a new environment that refreshes and lifts your spirits to be more productive and efficient throughout the day. ‘Happy’ is a new age finance company located in the city of dreams – Mumbai, in a high rise building that overlooks the cityscape.

A team full of young and enthusiastic employees, yearning to work in a setting that is vibrant and inviting, evoked the designers to gracefully come up with a design solution that embraces the office environment. It is a design composition entangling a variety of formal and informal spaces, in pop color tones and patterns that evokes a rich fragrance to a new office layout.

The workspace encompasses a combination of linear work stations, standing desks, stepped seats and lounge areas that deliver a refreshing feeling from the way it interacts with the people.

The concept of double-height space with an open ceiling and exposed concrete columns embers the office space making it functional and utilitarian in nature. The accent colors contrast the setting, highlighting the company’s branding in certain spaces and elements.

The entrance space exposes grey concrete walls and ceiling, sporting an industrial look, vertically screened by a green planter wall that reflects gleefully on the floor tiles. Areca palms and potted plants, with picture frames that are hanging on the grey walls, add to the ambience invoking a contemporary atmosphere.

The biophilic design invites the outdoors into the working spaces, which helps in managing stress levels and mood. The central breakout space dazzles with a row of ceiling lights, set at an angle along the length of the space.

A performance stage with a long ramp made of pinewood panels is placed on an artificial turf flooring that invites the employees to sit around in bean bags on the floor or even walk the ramp in an exuberant style.

This space is very well connected to workstations, a private lounge, cabins and a conference hall that makes it extensively flexible to be used as a discussion zone or even to host events. The eating area is a linear volume of space below the mezzanine level with a long table fixed in the center that vibrantly opens to the central area.

A feature wall in the central area has faux arches that span across the length, each arch following a minimalistic design with an interactive artwork.

The exposed concrete columns feature doodle graffiti art that exudes a playful emotion, which is a collaborative work done by the design team and the office employees. These columns are flanked on either side by pinewood stepped seating with bright colorful pillows and small cabinets.

The private lounge below the mezzanine level is a fun and vibrant space that acts as a break out zone for employees. The conference room is located between the central area and the executive lounge with partitions that visually connects the two spaces.

A second entrance lobby is provided especially for the executives which have patterned tiles and colorful graphics that are inviting and joyful. The executive cabins are purposefully located to capture the scenic view of the city skyline with large windows that brings in natural light.

The design team strikes a delicate balance between the youth and experience, in visualizing an office space that is contemporary, allowing more social interactions between the people, the space and the elements.
