British interiors inspire a theme of luxury and class that is portrayed as high glamour in the design of homes. The Designer’s Circle strikes this concept with an amalgamation of Scandinavian homes fused into a modern Indian home. Scandinavian design is a derivative of Nordic homes, where the houses are designed around a neutral colour palette with nature-inspired shades that aid in creating a cocoon-like space. Their style exudes a light-coloured floor slashed against the warm wooden ceiling with a great intake of light through the balcony. The colour palette along with contemporary furniture and warm wood create a perfect ambience for this medium-sized apartment.

Located in between a busy city like Ahmedabad, the apartment is wrapped around the ‘cosy home’ feel. The home was designed for a young couple, meeting their requirements which comprised of a recreational media room and a guest/parent’s room apart from the basics. The focus was on imparting neutral colours washed into the spaces to ensure maximum diffused light, creating absolute comfort for the client, thus envisioning an everyday friendly and subtle home following the contemporary trend.

The materials provided a natural look and ‘hygge’ lifestyle such as the herringbone pattern flooring, keeping it dramatic through its distinct trait and image. Vertical surfaces are textured similar to lime wash traditional walls. The whole design follows organic-like textured fabrics along simple silhouettes, holding the style together. And all of it comes together with the warm wooden ceiling, and pastel colours completing the circle and satisfying the resident’s needs. Being a medium-sized apartment, the colour adds up to the expanse forming a larger space in whole. The ceiling drops a sharp contrast to the floor creating equilibrium. The stylized exquisite furniture creates a crisp look enhancing the apartment ‘lagom’ and beauty. The elegant Scandinavian touch aids in bringing a ‘liveable luxe’ charm, with minimal design magic focusing on simplicity and functionality.

The drawing room seats six people in grand leather furniture, expanding the comfort level. The room is shared with the dining area, featuring a stone table paired with exquisite dark polished chairs. The area is highlighted by a sleek drop of light over the table. The drawing and dining depict the ambience of a perfect chill for today’s generation and gives a relaxed atmosphere. The elegant dining light is as simple and sleek as it could be, that adds so much to the area in whole. Space is backed with a long balcony and pebbled floor decorated in greenery and weaved chairs for your evening tea. Stacked alongside is the pastel kitchen on the left with brick and lime wash textures resonating an earthy mood. Just behind the kitchen comes the first bedroom converted to a lounge/media room. The walls are gladded in veneer with a textured sofa inserted in the centre creating a cocoon-like environment. Further ahead the master bedroom opens to wooden furniture with prints highlighted by table décor and the wall lights. The concealed wardrobe creates a beautiful wooden panel in the front. The parent’s or guest bedroom has a different look with big bold light and back panel catering the basic needs whilst bringing an edge to the home’s theme. The views from either room add to the rawness of the design.

The apartment, designed in the modern British style whilst keeping up the Scandinavian vibe, gives a place that walks around clean lines, organic textures and simple silhouettes. The warm ambience of the house, the contemporary furniture complementing with warm decorative lights and table artefacts beautifully enhances the craft of design. All in all this simple yet ultra-sophisticated home oozes class without being all about the bling.
